Families

THESE ARE THE DAYS

When the sweet peach fuzz of a little head tucks just so into your neck. Where the woven rug is the favorite spot for sticky fingers to turn favorite pages. The evening snuggles on the bed during story time. Your morning coffee together.

Life happens in your own space. You deserve images that document exactly what these tender and fleeting moments feel like.

Documentary style family photography means images

on your own terms

Before

Look, I get it. It can be a little intimidating to invite someone into your home to take photos. But think about it… years from now, you’ll be able to point out what this exact moment in time felt like because we’re documenting real life in your real space. I’ll share tips for outfits, outings and getting the littles excited. The first step is getting in touch and getting on my calendar. I’ll take it from there.

During

When I arrive, I won’t have my gear out, so you and the kids can ease into me being in your space. I follow the kids’ lead and work on their terms. Before you know it, they’ll be opening up and excited to show off their favorite toys and books. I usually spend between 60–90 minutes with families, but I recommend blocking out around 2.5 hours to give us flexibility.

After

Think of your images like candid, authentic shots… that are maybe spit-shined a little bit. I hand-edit all my images to bring out the very best qualities of your family and your connection. That means the breakfast dishes in the sink? I’ll frame the shot so they’re not the focus. I offer three different photo collections to fit your family’s needs. Each comes with digital files and a print credit.

THE FAMILY EXPERIENCE

In-home documentary style family photography. It’s a mouthful, right? But I promise, it’s super simple. Instead of worrying about outfits and fussy kids being bundled into the car and bribed to stand still and smile, docu-style gives you complete freedom to simply BE.

I find that when you’re in your own home, you don’t feel that pressure to perform. You can hang out, do a puzzle on the living room floor, make a coffee and watch your kids play. Your dog can be curled up next to you instead of fighting a leash in that random field. (Because it’s always a random field. I mean, why?!?)

You can, in essence, just relax. And honestly, what is better than that?

Amanda has this warmth to her. She makes everyone feel immediately comfortable. It feels like magic, what she's able to do with her camera.

I was a little nervous when we decided to take photos of my family at home, but the nerves evaporated when Amanda showed up.

She just makes it easy every step of the way. It didn't feel like a photo shoot, more like my family hanging out. Looking through these photos helps me to see the beauty in our everyday, chaotic life. I am beyond grateful that Amanda shares her gift with the world.

WE’RE NOT JUST GETTING THE “CHRISTMAS CARD SHOT”

Sure, we’ll get that too, but your images go deeper. They tell the story of who you are right now. These are images made to hold, keep and pass down.

When I think about the albums I create, I’m struck by this: When disaster strikes — a fire, a storm — what is the first thing you grab? It’s your images. Because nothing else holds your family’s history like imagery.

I love designing albums with you. We’ll choose favorites from your images gallery and create the final version together. Then you can rely on my expertise to deliver a totally custom, heirloom quality album to hold all you love.

BASED IN LAKE TAHOE,
TRAVELING WIDELY

My home base is Lake Tahoe, but I live a majority of my time on the road in my van.

Because I focus on documenting families in their own spaces, I’d love to connect with you in your hometown while on my travels. Maybe that’s a beloved second home in the Tahoe area or your homebase in Colorado, Wyoming or New Mexico.

Take a look at my upcoming travel schedule and see if I’ll be spending time near your town sometime soon. Don’t see your town on my schedule? Reach out! These roads out here go both ways, so I’m always down to travel if my schedule allows.
