Romantic Engagement Photos at Zephyr Cove

If you’re dreaming of romantic engagement photos with lakeside views, golden light, and a just-right blend of forest and shoreline…You’ll find all of that at Zephyr Cove. This location is tucked just across the border in Nevada, but still totally feels like the Lake Tahoe magic you came for.

When Rosemary saw this spot in my engagement location guide I share with my couples, she immediately fell in love. And you can definitely see why! It’s peaceful, wildly scenic, and has this sweet feeling of being tucked away, even though it’s not far from South Lake Tahoe.

Why Zephyr Cove is One of My Favorite Spots for Romantic Engagement Photos

Zephyr Cove has everything you could want. You get that classic Tahoe water in the background, pine trees for days, and big beautiful boulders along the shoreline that add depth to your images. Every corner of Zephyr Cove feels different, which makes it such a fun spot for couples who want both forest and beach vibes in their photos.

The terrain here is also mostly flat, which makes it super accessible for walking around and playing with movement (something I love incorporating into sessions!). That said, it’s a bit of a walk from the car, so I always recommend bringing a backpack, some snacks, and definitely water. You’re gonna be moving around more than you think, especially if we’re twirling, laughing, and climbing over a few rocks.

During the session, Rosemary started feeling a bit lightheaded halfway through, so I ran back to my car for water. (Trust me, it’s always better to have it handy!) After a quick break, she was feeling much better, and we got right back into it.

Their Love in Motion

These two are the definition of gentle love. Jason was so caring and attentive throughout our time together, always checking in on Rosemary and making sure she was okay. You could see the connection between them in every small moment — the way he looked at her, the way she’d reach for his hand without even realizing it.

It reminded me exactly why I do what I do. These are the moments that matter.

We spent the rest of the evening wandering along the shoreline, letting the golden light filter through the pines before heading down to the beach.

Creating Space for Playful, Meaningful Connection

I guide my couples through a session by encouraging real movement and real connection, and not stiff posing. That means pulling each other close, walking together, dancing a little, and letting your personalities shine through.

And when you’re in a place as beautiful as Zephyr Cove? You can let the world fall away a little. Let your feet get sandy, let the wind play with your hair, and just focus on each other.

Engagement sessions also give us a chance to get to know each other before your wedding or elopement day, and to find your rhythm together in front of the camera. Not sure if engagement photos are really “worth it”? I wrote a whole blog post breaking down why they’re kind of amazing, and, spoiler alert, they totally are!

And if you end up falling in love with Zephyr Cove like Rosemary and Jason did? You can get married here! It’s truly a dream for elopements!
